huisa meeting april 2015

Greetings from Indonesian Student of Hokkaido University.

Konnichiwa mina san!!! I am Isma Rosyida, from Indonesia.

I am currently studying in Graduate School of Letters. I would like to share you two things that will be my unforgettable memories during my study life in Hokkaido University:

First, the Sapporo`s life. Why? Because Sapporo is an astonishing city with abundance of natural beauty and a charming sense of Japanese culture. During the spring, i can experience the relaxing beauty of cherry blossoms everywhere. In summer, I can see the colorful flowers around the city. In autumn, I can see the wonderful falls, and during the cold winter, I can experience the plenty of snow fall. Also, the people in Sapporo are honest, friendly, kind hearted, and helpful. This glorious and calm environment helps me to ensure a pleasant learning experience.

And, second is HUISA. As an international student, I know how hard it is to arrive in a different country with a different language, different environment, different atmosphere and also different culture. Besides, Japanese language was initially one of the great barriers for me to move around and mingle easily in society. But being one of the HUISA member, I found smiles and fun. We have lots of events and activities, such as cultural events, sports festival, trips, hokudaisai, etc. Students from all over the world, having different races, different colors of skin, different backgrounds and different cultures, communicate and get to know each other. We were so passionate to have activities together. Meeting students from different ethnicities and cultures has taught me how to interact with people from all walks of life. I really found the spirit of unity in diversity in HUISA. Besides, all the HUISA committees are very friendly and helpful, so whenever I have any related problems, they will definitely help me. Once I became a part of HUISA member, I don`t feel that I was away from my home. HUISA makes me feel like I have new family in Sapporo. For me, being able to share experiences with and learn of attitudes and customs of people from around the world is a most enriching facet of life in Sapporo.

Someday, I will be going back home with real fond memories which will be cherished forever. I will smile, a very big smile, knowing that I had made a good choice to be the part of HUISA family.

Greetings from Treasure of HUISA, Delnur Anwar (Uyghur, China)

Dear international friends, my name is Delnur Anwar, I am Uyghur nationality, came from China. I joined HUISA committee 3 years ago. Now I am working as HUISA treasure. I really love this group, and those HUISA guys who are always there for you whenever you need them.

They always say I am the oldest committee member, doing the same things every year. I want to say that, during these 3 years working with 3 different committee groups, maybe only I know, every committee members who ever worked for Hokudai international students always doing their best or even beyond their capability.

In my point of view, HUISA is more like a family. We had quarrels, tears, laughter together for every meeting, events, but nobody gave up this family even for once. It is pretty hard to believe we get through so many difficulties and made so many things for our international students. Personally, I am proud to be in HUISA, and I am also very proud of every one who was in this family.

Greetings from Mohamed Shehata (Egypt)

I came to Hokkaido University from 2013, from this time I was participating in most of HUISA activities like summer trip, autumn trip, Hokudai-sai and so on. At that time I met many international students at HUISA committee, they were very kind, cooperative and hard worker. I was shocked when I know that; they are doing all of these activities as a volunteers, they believe that, helping international students give them some happiness more important than any other jobs. I’m very happy to be one of this committee this year and I hope me and all of HUISA committee make life of international students in Hokkaido University more exciting and easier than before. I hope to see all of you in next HUISA activity. GOOD LUCK.

HUISA – Hokkaido University International Students Association, is a volunteer student group set up for promoting the well-being of international students at Hokkaido University. One of HUISA’s intentions is bridging the foreign students of Hokkaido University to the people, culture and life style of Sapporo, Hokkaido. In this regard, participation in home stay programs, interaction camps are brought to the foreign students via HUISA. International Food Festival –HOKUDAISAI- is volunteered by HUISA  for providing a opportunity for the international students to showcase their native cuisine. HUISA also organises seasonal trips for the international students and a sports day is also organised annually for the international students. Cultural festival(BUNKASAI) organised by HUISA aims at presenting the cultural dance, singing, music of their respective countries by the international students. The executive committee of HUISA is elected every year, which has students of different countries volunteering to be the member of executive-committee. HUISA is always there whenever a foreign student needs any information regarding their stay at Hokkaido University. Being a ex-com member it gives me a sense of satisfaction of doing something for the international student committee and with the international student committee. I would say,HUISA is for the international students, by the international students.
